Whew! After a couple months of absolute craziness, "AIResTANGO" finally got the setting it deserved - a sellout, foot-stomping & cheering crowd at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, Colorado. Along with Cathy Gauch of Aircat Aerial Arts, we created "AIResTANGO" as a "tango fusion" of tango dance, live tango music, recorded tangos ranging from Golden Age standards to modern tango composers like Gotan Project and Carlos Libedinsky, tango historical narrative and poetry, all interwoven with the soaring grace and beauty-in-flight of tango-inspired aerial art. Cathy brought in her associate Darden Longenecker to assist with the extensive aerial work in the show. Almost a year in development, and with the support of grants from both the Boulder Arts Commission and the Boulder County Arts Alliance, the show premiered in the beautiful new 250-seat main theater in the Dairy Center on Saturday, May 22nd, 2004. (Click here to view portions of the show's program)

We were the grateful recipients of some fantastic late-breaking publicity: a beautiful preview published by the Boulder Daily Camera, written by dance critic Cari Cunningham (click here to read the Boulder Daily Camera's  Preview). Additionally, volunteer producer Guy Errickson from Boulder radio station KGNU tracked us down for an interview that aired on Friday and Saturday.  As a result, we were deluged with calls starting Friday morning, and on Saturday the theater was packed.  All 250 seats were filled and ten standing-room-only tickets were sold, making our tango vendors in the lobby very happy.

After the show, we invited everyone in the audience to join us up on stage for a free tango lesson, and got about seventy takers.  The milonga after the lesson continued until midnight, when we had to kick everybody out to cover the floor for the next event.

Thanks to everyone who came, and to those who couldn't get tickets - stay tuned for news of the next performance!

Thanks for the wonderful video footage provided by volunteer videographers Sven Jorgensen, Gino Moraga, and Joe Ramas, and to Rick Moss, Alicia Santisteva and Katja Flajszman for still photography.

We are actively pursuing more engagements for this show, so if you are interested in bringing "AIResTANGO" to your area, WE want to talk to YOU!  Call us at 303-938-0716, or e-mail us at
